Philadelphia infant and toddler intervention provides services to children with delays in language, cognitive, physical, adaptive (self-care), and social-emotional development. These services are free of charge. Kids and Family early intervention services are specifically created to match the needs of each child and family and are outlined on the child's Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP). Our services are provided in the child's natural environment, including the home, child care settings, and other community locations. Kids and Family provides family centered supports and services. The services are based on the strengths and needs identified by the family, with the goal of improving the child's ability to participate in their family's daily routines and activities. Parents and therapists work together collaboratively to implement the services of the IFSP.

SPEECH THERAPY

Speech Therapy is the part of early intervention to help a child develop in the areas of communication, language, eating, and oral motor development. The Speech Therapist provides evaluations, consultations and ongoing services to enhance receptive and expressive communication and oral motor skills. The therapist will help families identify techniques to help gain skills throughout daily routines.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

Occupational therapy is the part of early intervention concerned with helping children to better perform self help and adaptive skills. The therapist may address development in the areas of eating, getting dressed, sensory processing, and fine and gross motor skills. In early intervention, an Occupational Therapist provides interventions that build on a child's unique strengths and interests to help her safely explore her environment and engage in family activities.

PHYSICAL THERAPY

Physical Therapists work with children who have various developmental disabilities and motor delays. Their focus is to model and teach families and caregivers the necessary tools to help a child achieve quality and active participation in his home and community. Physical Therapists may focus on strengthening, mobility, balance, coordination, and safety.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTION

Special Instruction addresses a child's overall growth and development. Special Instructors work with families and children to reach their goals in a variety of areas, including play skills, behavior management, social interaction, cognitive development, and language acquisition. Special Instruction supports families and children during the activities and routines that are most challenging to them. This type of therapy can occur across many settings with a variety of methods and materials. Special Instructors also advocate and assist families in accessing community resources and programs based on their needs.
